About Jamie’s Cragg Caravan Park

Jamie’s Cragg is currently home to 105 owner-occupied caravan holiday homes, with 8 further plots immediately available to new owners. It is sheltered on three sides by the attractive ‘cragg’ walls and woodlands of a historic quarry. The site itself is designated as being of special scientific interest, since large quantities of Roman pottery were found in 1857, with further finds made in 1923 and 1926.

At the bottom of Station Road is the River Derwent and Castle Howard Railway Station (now privately owned) which was once used by Queen Victoria on a visit to Castle Howard. The site is also designated as being of special scientific interest.

Jamie's Cragg Woodland Area

Historic interest and attractive appearance aside, one of the key benefits to Jamie’s Cragg holiday home owners, is the effective shelter the former quarry walls provide. They really do turn the entire park into a warm and sheltered suntrap. They also protect the park from the noise of the busy A64 York to Scarborough Road, which you’ll find just at the end of the park’s drive. Stand in the middle of the park and all you can hear is bird song and the rustle of the wind in the trees. It is green, quiet and amazingly peaceful.

Jamie’s Cragg has been recently purchased by Coastline Leisure Ltd, the independent caravan and timber lodges sales company established by East Yorkshire-based father and son team Pat and John Northgraves. The company, which has until now, bought and sold caravans and timber lodges on other people’s parks sees the acquisition of Jamie’s Cragg North Yorkshire caravan park as an important new development:

John NorthgravesCoastline Leisure is all about providing first class new and used leisure homes, on a range of top quality parks, in the countryside or by the sea,” said John Northgraves, Director of Coastline Leisure Ltd. “We’ve built our business by working with park owners to provide caravan holiday home owners with the perfect lifestyle.”
“But by acquiring our own park, we’re able to take control of more of the process. We’ve already invested over £2 million in Jamie’s Cragg and we plan to spend a further £200,000 to £300,000 on improvements to the park. This will turn Jamie’s Cragg into one of the best in the area, to the benefit of existing and future holiday home owners.”

The Northgraves’ recent additions to the park include landscaping, a new park entrance, reception and caravan sales area, new park roadways, lighting, parking facilities and a new play area for children.

It’s good news for existing owners, and a great opportunity for new buyers to claim their place on a superb park, right in the heart of one of the country’s most beautiful landscapes.
